Hello all,

Happy new year everyone! Sorry for starting in English, I moved here last week and although I’m learning German it is not great yet. My name is Phelim and I am a Dutch/Irish visual artist. I got diagnosed with MS in March of 2011 because I was having problems with my eyes. After the diagnoses the work I was making changed drastically. Fear and mortality became the main themes I started researching.

At this moment I’m working on a project that researches the relationship I have with my body and how the disease influences my identity. I’m doing this at an Artist in Research (ABA Alexanderplatz). For part of this project I work and talk with other MS patients like myself. This would be a very big letter if I tried to explain it all in detail so I will spare you the read. If I have intrigued you I would love to explain it further in detail over a coffee. You can send an e-mail to info@phelim-hoey.nl or start a conversation here. Really hope to hear from you.

Kind regards,

Phelim Hoey

Hi Phelim,

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your rich picture collection. You seem to have gathered experiences from all walks of life!

As you’ve probably already realized, any emotional reaction to MS will likely be highly individual and dependent on many things. No two pictures will be the same. It would therefore be very interesting for you to eventually share how you’ve come to interpret this sickness by means of your photos.

Unfortunately, I’m not nearby to meet in person but I do hope that you’ll meet local, open minded “fellow-travelers” soon.

Good luck!

Hi Felim,

nice to meet you!

Nice to meet you as well!
